Gardens ~ Allotments ~ Permaculture
We have been growing Comfrey, Latin name Symphytum, on our farm for over 10 years.
A most useful hardy perennial for gardens, allotments and permaculture.
Our Comfrey is grown using organic principles in the beautiful South Shropshire countryside.
When we bought our farm over a 15 ago I was determined to encourage wildlife and allow native plants to thrive. Over the years we have let nature take over pockets of land that would be difficult to use for cultivation or grazing. Here are a few wildlife and plant highlights starting with one of my favorites the Brown Hare.
A Barn Owl silently swooped over my head at dusk.
Wild Carrot on our wildflower meadow.
Our Green Woodpecker forages on the wildflower meadow.
A young Hazel with catkins in the snow. We are creating areas of coppice
We have a huge variety of bees.
The Red Kite is very timid & soon flies off if I am spotted.
The Orchids on our wildflower meadow.
I only see Hawk Moths occasionally but they are very large.
