An extremely rare variegated form of russian comfrey which forms a large clump forming statuesque perennial plant with leaves over a foot long. This plant shines out in the garden bed on the gloomiest of days and deserves to be more widely available and grown.
The leaves are grey green with broad cream margins and pale mauve flowers that open from lilac buds in late spring to early summer. The flower stems grow 4' (1.2 m) high and may need staking and the clumps are up to 3' (90 cm) wide. The flower stems can also be removed if not needed.
Loves shade to semi-shade areas with moist rich soil but I have grown it in full sun without a problem. As the leaves age and turn brown cut them off and new leaves grow readily from the crown keeping the plant fresh and beautiful.
